Why we digitize
VHS to MP4 is a new digitizing studio run solely by me, Duncan Wade. I’m based in Ingersoll and primarily serve the surrounding area, namely Woodstock and London.
This began out of a hobby for collecting old media, starting with a 13″ CRT TV and later a VCR. It was as I started my VHS collection that I realized how many people have old VHS tapes lying around, and no VCR to play them. These are precious home movies – wedding videos, first steps, graduations – all locked away by technological progress. Realizing the importance for making these videos accessible in our digital age, I decided to start a business that converts analog media for people at a low price.
I started out with VHS, but as more people made requests for more media conversions, I have expanded greatly to encompass practically every old and outdated consumer media format. VHS, Betamax, Hi8, MiniDV, Audio Cassettes, Photo Slides, and even CDs and DVDs. With continued research and equipment investments, I continue to improve and refine my digitizing process to ensure your media is preserved at the fullest quality.
I could certainly increase the price given how dirt cheap they are, how much time I spend on digitizing, and the fact that other services are charging more, but I choose not to. I know just how precious these memories are to people, and to price them out of quality services such as myself means they will settle for time-consuming, low-quality transfers they do themselves, or turn to other services with a poor reputation. I feel these memories deserve more than these poor attempts at preservation, and nobody should feel priced out of nostalgia.
By choosing VHS to MP4, you’re not only supporting a small business, you’re also supporting quality preservation efforts and standing up to the high costs and inferior quality of competitors. Thank you for choosing VHS to MP4.
